This is a night view of part of the downtown skyline, captured near the bottom of the Duquesne Incline. The train tracks just beyond the fence in the foreground are very active - two trains passed during the few minutes I was taking this shot.
Despite wind and rain on my camera and lens, I managed to capture this somewhat spooky image of the Cathedral Of Learning at the University Of Pittsburgh. The sky looks purple from the storm, and the long exposure.
This is one of the original blast furnaces, dating back to 1859. It produced 11,000 tons of iron from coke, and was the first bituminous coke furnace operating in Pittsburgh. It now stands, surrounded by fountains and colored lights, in the courtyard at Station Square.
